LISA: The Painful originally launched on December 15, 2014, and received its major story expansion LISA: The Joyful on August 25, 2015. On July 18, 2023, the developer released LISA: Definitive Edition — a free update for existing owners that added HD graphics, updated battle systems, new quests, boss battles, campfire conversations, a music player, new secrets, and more. The launch post for the Definitive Edition explicitly states: "LISA is finally complete." This is a direct developer declaration that content development has concluded. All DLC on record (LISA: The Joyful and the Soundtrack + Art Collection) has been released. Following the Definitive Edition launch, the developer shipped several patches addressing bugs, localization, and UI improvements through August 2023. In April 2025, the game was also released on mobile platforms, bringing the Definitive Edition content to new audiences. No further content has been announced, and the developer's own words confirm the game is finished.
