Evaluation

Tunguska: The Visitation — Final Cut is a fully released game with five paid DLC packs, all of which have shipped. The most recent paid DLC (Sound of Music) released on July 6, 2024. Despite all paid DLC being complete, the solo developer at Rotorist Workshop has continued actively updating the base game well into 2026. Recent updates include a melee combat overhaul on April 11, 2026, a quality-of-life patch on April 6, 2026, and new content additions such as the Mosin Nagant rifle on January 6, 2026. The developer also runs recurring seasonal in-game events — on September 1, 2026, they announced the annual Autumn Event running from September 1 to December 1, 2026, with special gameplay content. The developer is simultaneously building a sequel, Tunguska 2: Whitefall, with regular progress updates posted through the original game's Steam news feed. As of September 1, 2026, the developer completed the quest dialogue draft and is working on the new UI. A playable demo is expected by end of 2026 or early 2027. These sequel updates are shared through the original game's page, using the existing player base as an audience. This sequel work has not halted ongoing support for the original game. All five paid DLCs are available for purchase. Someone waiting for all paid content can buy now. The developer continues to ship substantial free updates and seasonal events, with no indication that support for the base game is concluding.

About this game

Radioactive anomalies. Rabid mutants. Cursed treasures. You step into the Zone with a pistol, a flashlight, and a roll of bandages. Hunt and scavenge, or get lost to the Zone.

COMBAT & STEALTH

Choose from an arsenal of Soviet-era firearms and melee weapons. Go in guns blazing, set ambushes, sneak through shadows, distract enemies. The Zone rewards cunning as much as courage.

SURVIVAL & STRATEGY

Manage food, medicine, radiation, infection, and your trusty backpack. Use careful planning, stealth, or brute force—your approach matters.

CRAFTING & GHOUL HUNTING

Harvest herbs, hunt animals, gather mutants’ body parts. Brew serums, cook food, upgrade weapons, repair gears. The Zone is perilous — but also full of riches for the cunning.

EXPLORATION & LORE

Ravaged villages, toxic swamps, abandoned Soviet bunkers—each environment holds clues, journals, side-quests, and mysteries born of the 1908 Tunguska Event. Uncover the hidden stories at your own pace.

Inspired by the novel Roadside Picnic, Tunguska is one man's vision and creation of a new post-Visitation zone: a place not just full of horror and danger, but also the freedom and opportunities sought after by many near the fall of the USSR.
