Evaluation

Ultrawings launched on July 20, 2017 as a complete, standalone VR flight game. After launch, the developer (Bit Planet Games) released a series of feature updates adding new hardware support, additional missions, new aircraft, a new island, and various quality-of-life improvements. The most substantive content addition came on March 29, 2018, when a major patch introduced a new aircraft, a new island, new content for all aircraft, and HOTAS support. Subsequent updates in 2018, 2019, and 2020 focused primarily on adding support for new VR headsets and controllers (Vive Pro, Valve Index, Oculus Quest via Link Cable) and additional peripheral support. The last recorded developer communication was on December 3, 2020, when support for Oculus Quest via Link Cable and a new joystick was added. There have been no news posts, announcements, or developer communications since that date. No DLC has ever been listed for the game, no roadmap or future content has been announced, and the developer has made no statements indicating further updates are planned. The store description presents the game as a finished product with no mention of ongoing development. Given the long silence since December 3, 2020 and the absence of any outstanding commitments or announced content, the game is complete.

About this game

Ultrawings is the first aerial-themed, open-world game where you'll pilot multiple aircraft to complete a variety of missions across an island-themed world.

The game features full support for gamepad, HOTAS*, rudder pedals, and HTC Vive Wands, Oculus Touch, and Windows MR tracked motion controllers which allows you to use your hands to virtually interact with each aircraft's flight instruments for a truly unparalleled flight experience!

The following HOTAS joysticks are officially supported:

Saitek X52
Saitek X55
Saitek X56
Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog
Thrustmaster HOTASX
Thrustmaster HOTAS4
Thrustmaster T16000M

If you don't have one of the officially supported joysticks your stick will not work with the game.

Due to the way we detect HMDs and joysticks the game does not support virtual desktop.
