The developer explicitly stated on November 17, 2020 that the patch released that day would be "the last content update for UD," explaining that architectural limitations in the codebase made further development impractical. The developer was candid about moving on to a fresh project rather than continuing to expand the original game. Undead Development subsequently left Early Access and reached its 1.0 release on January 13, 2021. No updates, patches, or communications about the original game have been posted since that release date. All developer activity has been directed toward Undead Development 2: a private beta was held in February 2022, and as recently as September 3, 2026, a new gameplay trailer for UD2 was published ahead of a Steam Next Fest demo. None of this activity changes the status of the original Undead Development, which is a finished, complete game with no further content planned.

Undead Development has a dynamic nailing system that allows you to nail any object to another. Board up an open doorway to slow down the undead, nail an axe to your rifle, or see what happens when you nail a bear trap to the end of a baseball bat. Is this game scary?- Undead development isn’t designed as a horror game. There aren’t any elements designed to jump scare the player. All of the content can be accessed without playing any of the levels at night.
