Under What?

Under What?

Released Aug 2019

“Under what?” is a short but very capacious story-tale about an old fisherman who suddenly faced the surface of the water. In this story there will be no dragons, the battle of good and evil, and other boring nonsense. But there will be some bad jokes and extraordinary characters.

Evaluation

Under What? is a free, self-described "short" visual novel / interactive comic created by a solo developer and released on August 5, 2019. The store description frames it as a finished, self-contained experience — the developer explicitly notes they "spent much more time on development than I thought" and hopes players enjoy it, with no mention of planned updates, future content, or ongoing work. The only post-launch communication was a bug-fix patch on August 20, 2019 (Patch 1.0) that added a Spanish translation and fixed minor bugs. There have been no developer communications of any kind since that date. The game launched as a complete, finished product with no post-launch content cycle, no DLC, and no roadmap. It is a completed work.
Evidence

This visual novel is absolutely free (so if you think to sell it to someone, do not forget to share the earnings). It doesn’t require on-time spell casting and late game artefacts. It is recommended in a relaxed atmosphere with a cup of tea.

I would call this project an interactive comic rather than a visual novel or game. I spent much more time on development than I thought. I hope you will enjoy it!
