VAIL

VAIL is a free-to-play VR competitive shooter that launched on February 15, 2024 and is structured as an indefinitely expanding live service. The store page explicitly describes "a constantly expanding world of modes, maps, and community," and the development history fully backs that up. Since launch, AEXLAB has maintained a consistent cadence of major content updates — roughly every 2–3 months — including the Training Grounds expansion (February 2025, version 1.5), the Extraction Early Access mode launch (November 2025, version 1.8), The Throwback Update with a new map and 1v1 playlist (March 2026, version 1.10), The Skill Tree Update introducing ranked play and a new progression system (May 2026, version 1.11), a new Social Hub (June 2026, patch 1.11.18), and the addition of the Agrotech DLC alongside further Extraction improvements (July 10, 2026, patch 1.11.25). The most recent patch on August 6, 2026 added a new seasonal cosmetic drop ("August Drop // SS26") and explicitly mentioned "background work on future content." The game operates with multiple live-service systems: monthly seasonal cosmetic drops tied to named seasons (currently "SS26"), a rotating DLC cosmetic bundle program (with 17 total DLC bundles released, the latest on May 31, 2026), a VAIL Alliance subscription tier delivering monthly rewards and exclusive content, ongoing weekly Extraction missions, and a ranked seasonal structure (currently in Season 0 for Ranked Artifact). The Extraction mode itself, while playable, remains in a self-described "Early Access" state within the game with a published roadmap of planned features still in progress as of November 2025.
