Evaluation
Vampire Survivors is a fully released game with one of the most active post-launch content records in its genre. Since its 1.0 launch on October 20, 2022, poncle has shipped eight paid DLC expansions and numerous major free updates, establishing a reliable cadence of significant new content every few months.
The most recent major content update, version 1.15, shipped on June 6, 2026, adding a new stage (The Lycaeum), two characters, new weapons, Darkanas, and major quality-of-life improvements. On August 7, 2026 — just six days before today — poncle published a comprehensive news post confirming that the next expansion, Legacy of the Bloodmoon (listed on the store as an upcoming DLC with no release date set), is "almost complete" and that submissions and testing are beginning soon, with an actual release date to follow shortly. This is the clearest possible signal that announced content is on the immediate horizon.
Beyond the expansion itself, the August 7 post also confirms additional planned content: community-designed characters (Baron Husker and Sefi Rotto) are scheduled for a future v1.17 update, and Steam Workshop support for custom characters is also targeting v1.17. The developer also confirmed that when Legacy of the Bloodmoon launches, the older Legacy of the Moonspell DLC will simultaneously receive seven new unlocks as a free update.
Poncle is clearly a healthy and active studio. In 2026 alone they have shipped Update 1.15, launched the Vampire Crawlers spinoff (April 21, 2026), announced a collaboration game with Shueisha Games (Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton), opened poncle Japan, and maintained a public Chaos Roadmap outlining their intent to deliver remaining content packs through the end of 2026. The developer explicitly stated in June 2026: "Is Vampire Survivors still getting free updates? Yes of course, there's still plenty on the roadmap."
Evidence
Developer confirms Legacy of the Bloodmoon is 'almost complete' and that testing and platform submissions are beginning soon, with a release date announcement imminent. Also teases community-designed characters and Workshop support coming in v1.17.
Legacy of the Bloodmoon officially announced for Summer 2026. Developer explicitly confirms free updates are ongoing: 'there's still plenty on the roadmap.' Update 1.15 ships the same day with a new stage, characters, weapons, and Darkanas.
