vApe Escape launched as a free-to-play point-and-click adventure on March 15, 2019. The game was designed and marketed as a short, self-contained experience — approximately 20 minutes of gameplay across two locations with two possible endings. Its only DLC, an original soundtrack, was released three days after launch on March 18, 2019. No additional content has ever been announced or hinted at for the game itself. The one post-launch news item from March 22, 2019 was an announcement for an entirely separate game by the same developer ("The Lot"), not new content for vApe Escape. The developer has made no communications about vApe Escape since that March 2019 period, consistent with the game having shipped as a complete, intentionally compact product. There is nothing outstanding or undelivered.

The game will take the player across many (read: two) locations on board a space-faring cargo ship transporting vApe dispensers to the galaxy, and features multiple (read: two) endings to the story, depending on how you play it. Since it is imagined as an "interactive comic", you can print out your gameplay in comic-book format once you've finished the game, and put it on your comic-book shelf to impress your friends!
