Evaluation

Warcube entered Steam Early Access on January 27, 2017 and received a series of feature updates and patches through 2021. The developer, a solo creator working under the studio name Jam Rascals, maintained an irregular but ongoing update cadence through 2020 and into early 2021. On October 2, 2021, the developer posted a frank status update explaining that development was officially on pause. The post described plans for a complete foundational rebuild of the game — including a redesigned map, a shift toward roguelite gameplay, and new mechanics — but acknowledged that a separate unannounced project (called Coin Hogs) was taking priority. The developer was transparent that the game was broken in its current state and encouraged players to consider refunds. Since that October 2, 2021 post, there have been no further updates, patch notes, or developer communications of any kind. The promised rebuild has not been delivered, and no timeline or progress report has been shared. The game remains in Early Access with the original store description still in place. Given that more than four years have passed since the last developer communication, and the announced revamp has not materialized, the current state of development is genuinely unclear.
Evidence
Developer announced development is officially on pause, citing a complete foundational rebuild in progress and a higher-priority side project (Coin Hogs). Promised a revamped version with a redesigned map and roguelite mechanics, and encouraged dissatisfied players to seek refunds. This is the last official communication from the developer.

About this game

WARCUBE is all about the combat.

It’s viciously intense, subtly tactical, and geometrically satisfying. Inspired by games such as Shadow of Mordor, Assassins Creed and Mount & Blade. But with more... cubes.

You've returned home after being on holiday for 3,729 years.

  • Be transformed from a Human, into a Warcube.
  • Capture outposts and explore the world's secrets.
  • Find treasures lost in ages past, as well as things not so treasured...
  • Launch yourself from catapults, to go places you probably ought not to. This is a physics based game in Early Access after all...

While playing you may experience
  • Dynamic slow motion and speed ramping, similar to 300, but with cubes.
  • Highly realistic cube physics...very complex stuff.
  • A multitude of arrows being shot at you, as well as swords, axes and spears waved in your direction.
  • Extreme combo kills in slow motion to make you look your best.

Never has there been a game with this many cubes, that wasn't a Minecraft knockoff.
These cubes were made for battle, not building.
