WGT Golf has been on Steam Early Access since April 13, 2020, and as of August 2026 remains in that state. The developer has made no announcement of a 1.0 release date or any plans to leave Early Access. The store description continues to frame the Steam version as an ongoing work-in-progress shaped by community feedback. The game operates as a continuously running live service. Developer activity has been frequent and consistent throughout 2025 and into 2026: patch notes were posted in August 2025, October 2025, November 2025, February 2026, March 2026, May 2026, June 2026, and most recently on July 30, 2026. A brand-new course — PGA Frisco Fields Ranch — launched on June 18, 2026. The July 2026 update introduced a new Pro Shop system, Session Balls, and clubs from a newly added brand partner (PXG), with additional Session Balls explicitly promised to release throughout August 2026. The content model is built around perpetually rotating tournaments (Sunshine Classic starting August 12, 2026; Azalea Classic; Virtual Ryder Cup; Coin Chaos), sponsored equipment drops tied to real-world golf brands (TaylorMade, Callaway, Cobra, Vice Golf, PXG), seasonal and limited-time cosmetic bundles, and country club events. Annual recurring events like County Fair Showdown (now in its sixth year) confirm the multi-year, open-ended nature of the live content cycle. There is no indication from the developer that this cadence of updates and new content will end.
