Wild Warfare launched on Steam Early Access on July 15, 2014 as a free-to-play, class-based multiplayer shooter. After an active period in late 2014 and early 2015, developer communications went completely silent after January 30, 2015 — leaving the game in a prolonged state of apparent abandonment for over a decade. That changed on June 30, 2026, when RocketSnail posted a significant update announcing that the game is now being maintained jointly by the RocketSnail and SkyVu teams. This update migrated the game to a modern version of Unity, added controller support, and restored compatibility with modern PCs and Macs. The developer explicitly acknowledged the gap, noting it had been over 10 years since the last update. The game remains in Early Access, and the store description still describes it as an Alpha with promises of future content. The return of active developer involvement — with a meaningful technical update as recently as June 30, 2026 — resolves the prior uncertainty about whether the game had been abandoned. Development appears to have genuinely resumed.
