Evaluation
Wrestling Empire launched on July 2, 2021 and has been continuously updated by solo developer MDickie ever since. Across 50 developer posts scanned, the game has received 4 tagged major content updates and 15 feature patches — a sustained pattern of substantial additions well beyond standard bug-fixing maintenance.
Major content milestones include a full free "roaming mode" (March 11, 2022), a major "Happy New Year!" content drop to celebrate the game's 4th year (January 10, 2024), and the "Hard Times" update (September 11, 2024) introducing courtroom locations, limb loss mechanics, new gimmick matches, and cross-game content tied to MDickie's other title Hard Time III. Feature patches have continued at a high frequency throughout 2023, 2024, and into 2025, with the most recent update on November 13, 2025 adding new hairstyles, body shapes, camera improvements, and numerous gameplay refinements.
A September 21, 2023 post introducing Steam Workshop support explicitly stated: "This is by no means my way of giving up on the project, as I have plenty of official developments in the pipeline as well."
The developer has made no statement indicating that development is winding down or complete. MDickie has maintained a consistent pattern of shipping meaningful updates every few months across the game's entire post-launch life. The last developer communication was on November 13, 2025. As of today (October 1, 2026), that is approximately 10.5 months ago. The established cadence for major content has been roughly every 6–12 months, and feature patches have historically appeared every 1–3 months. The current silence since November 13, 2025 is pushing toward the outer edge of the observed cadence window, but given the developer's demonstrated multi-year commitment and the absence of any wind-down statement, this does not yet cross into uncertain territory. The game continues to receive updates as part of an ongoing development effort.
