Zeal entered Steam Early Access on September 24, 2018 as a third-person Action RPG focused on PvP. The game had a turbulent development: servers were taken offline in July 2020 while the team announced a sweeping rework to transform it into a PvP-focused MMORPG. The game returned to Steam on November 5, 2020 with Patch 0.8, bringing a reworked combat system and six available classes, with two more announced as "coming soon" and another two promised "later this year" (i.e., by end of 2020).
That November 5, 2020 post is the last communication from the developer on record. The promised additional classes and the broader MMORPG feature set described in the July 2020 announcement were never confirmed as delivered. The game has remained in Early Access with no developer updates since that date — a silence of over five years as of June 2026.
Given the game is still in Early Access, outstanding content was explicitly promised at the time of the last update, and the developer has not communicated in over five years, there is significant uncertainty about whether development is still active or has quietly ceased.

No Grind, No Pay 2 Win
Last but not least, Zeal offers a gameplay that involves absolutely 0 minutes of grinding required. You can jump into the action without having to run errands in a village and you can be equally strong with everyone in terms of raw power without having to slay a dragon. Though you might slay it in the future, for cosmetic purposes!
It is also safe to say, since this project is by the players — for the players, Zeal will never include a pay to win advantage of any form.
