Among Ripples

Among Ripples launched on January 22, 2015 as a free, self-described "short but sweet" experimental title. The store description explicitly calls it "a free product with no strings attached" and "a little experimental title we want to share freely with you all." The developer never positioned it as a game that would receive ongoing content — it was always intended as a small, complete experience. The only post-launch update was a June 8, 2015 engine upgrade to Unity 5 with a minor sound toggle addition — a maintenance patch, not new content. After that, all developer communications shifted entirely to promoting their sequel, Among Ripples: Shallow Waters, which was announced in January 2019, crowdfunded via Kickstarter in February–March 2020, and developed as a separate Steam product. The developer explicitly stated in January 2019 that the original game was "mostly a small experiment, that's why we never charged for it." There has been no developer communication about the original Among Ripples since March 2020, and no content updates, DLC, or future plans have ever been indicated for it. The last meaningful communication from the developer on this game's own Steam page dates to March 18, 2020, and that post was about the sequel's Kickstarter campaign, not this game. This game launched complete and has remained so since release. All developer energy moved to the sequel years ago.
