Anarchy Online is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online RPG that first launched in 2001 and arrived on Steam on February 22, 2017. As one of the earliest sci-fi MMOs, the game is built around a persistent online world with thousands of simultaneous players, territorial control, a player-driven economy, and continuously evolving social and competitive systems — all hallmarks of a game designed to run as an ongoing live service rather than reach a content endpoint.
All three DLC items listed on Steam — cosmetic and quality-of-life bundles — have been released. The 27 developer news posts on Steam consist entirely of community events, seasonal events, anniversary celebrations, and promotional activity. None contain patch notes, feature updates, or development announcements. This is a common pattern for a long-running MMO where the primary game client and updates are managed outside of Steam's news system (through the game's own launcher and official forums), so the absence of Steam patch posts does not indicate the game is abandoned.
