Blade of Darkness is a re-release of the classic 2001 action-RPG, brought back to Steam on October 7, 2021 by publisher SNEG with HD improvements, widescreen support up to 4K, and modern hardware compatibility. The store description is explicit that "the gameplay, content, and the story are untouched" — this is a preservation/re-release effort rather than a game in active content development.
Since launch, SNEG delivered two meaningful updates: a major update on March 15, 2023 that added upscaled textures, a reworked camera, better controller support, new visual features, and console version support; and a follow-up update on May 15, 2024 that refined camera options, re-integrated the original 2001 version as a selectable build, and restored original Spanish language assets. Outside of these, activity has consisted of bug fixes and community stream posts.
The May 15, 2024 update is the most recent developer communication of substance. There is no announced future content, no unreleased DLC on the store, no roadmap, and no season pass. The publisher's most recent news post from December 10, 2025 is not about Blade of Darkness at all — it announces the re-release of an entirely separate game (The Temple of Elemental Evil) on SNEG's publishing channel. This confirms SNEG is still active as a publisher but has communicated nothing about further Blade of Darkness updates.
With no outstanding commitments, no announced content, and a developer/publisher that has moved on to other titles, the game appears to have reached its final state with the May 15, 2024 update.

About this game
A grim new threat looms over The Central Kingdoms. The borders protected by the fierce King’s Knights are no longer secure. The fearsome orc clans, more numerous than ever, lurk on all roads.
