Budget Cuts

Budget Cuts launched on June 14, 2018 as a VR stealth game and received a steady stream of post-launch updates. The Arcade mode — four new bonus levels plus a new game mode with high scores — shipped on February 14, 2019 and is now bundled into the base game. A major performance and feature overhaul arrived on April 27, 2020, porting the game to the Budget Cuts 2 engine. The most recent meaningful content addition was a new Arcade level ("Panopticon") on December 1, 2020. Since December 1, 2020, there have been no further updates to Budget Cuts itself. The developer's subsequent communications — an October 2025 demo announcement and a December 2025 launch announcement — are for an entirely separate new title called Crossings, which launched on SteamVR on February 6, 2026. The NEWS-4 post from October 2021 was also for Budget Cuts 2 (a separate game), not this title. The store description explicitly notes that Budget Cuts Arcade "now comes with the base game automatically," framing it as the complete package. No DLC is listed, no roadmap has been published, and no future content has been announced for Budget Cuts. The developer has clearly moved on to new projects. The game launched as a complete experience and has received its full run of post-launch additions.
