Evaluation

Builderment launched on October 24, 2023 as a complete factory-builder game. Following launch, the developer shipped a series of post-launch updates: a price drop and Alternative Recipes system in May 2024, writable signs in July 2024, and a Steam Achievements and hotbar update in October 2024. These represent incremental quality-of-life and feature improvements rather than a sustained major content cadence — there has been only one major content release (the launch itself), with subsequent updates being smaller feature patches. The most significant recent signal is an August 25, 2025 announcement in which the developer revealed a brand new game called "Belts of Iron," described as a next-generation factory automation title set to launch into Early Access in late 2025. This announcement, combined with the absence of any updates to Builderment since October 2024, strongly suggests the developer has shifted focus to the new project. There are no outstanding content commitments for Builderment, no unreleased DLC, and no roadmap pointing to future updates. The last developer communication about Builderment itself was the October 2024 achievements patch. The game appears to have reached its completed state as of that final update.
Evidence
Developer announced a new separate game, Belts of Iron, targeting Early Access in late 2025 — indicating the studio's development focus has moved on from Builderment.

About this game

After Earth ran out of resources, it started out daring explorers - like yourself - to faraway planets to mine, build, and transport back raw materials to save it, one shipment at a time!

Builderment is all about automation! Starting with the simplest of buildings and a handy-dandy teleporter, you can build a precisely engineered network that strip-mines the planet with unparalleled efficiency - or create a conveyor belt hell that wakes engineers up in the middle of the night. The choice is yours!

Mine, Build, Transport

Every factory starts with the simplest of extractors, conveyor belts, and machines to convert wood, iron, copper, and dozens of other raw materials into something you can send back home. But that's just the start: With every shipment, you get the opportunity to research more items that will allow you to exploit the planet faster, more efficiently, and give you even more ways to construct the ultimate conveyor belt (playing with splitters is always fun!)

Plan, Power, Decorate

To properly complete your mission, you'll also have to extract coal and uranium: The more power in the system, the faster the extraction goes. Your coal and nuclear plants will keep the production going ever faster. But remember: There's more to a happy factory than just machines and reactors! Decorate it with trees, statues, and other attractive features to make strip-mining fun and attractive!
