Evaluation

ChromaGun launched on February 16, 2016 as a puzzle game. Its post-launch development history for the base game consists of two notable updates: an announcement in January 2017 of a major Anniversary Update, which then shipped on May 8, 2017, bringing improved graphics, new sound effects, performance improvements, full controller support, and a Community Map Editor with Steam Workshop integration. After May 2017, the developer shifted focus entirely toward ChromaGun 2: Dye Hard. The studio announced that sequel at IGN Live in June 2024, released a demo for it in February 2025, and launched it as a standalone product on February 12, 2026 — nearly 10 years after the original. All developer communications since 2024 have been about the sequel, not about new content for the original ChromaGun. There are no unreleased DLC listings, no roadmap or developer statement promising additional content for ChromaGun, and no sustained post-launch update pattern beyond the 2017 Anniversary Update. The original game appears to have reached its final state with that 2017 update, with the developer's energy now fully directed at the sequel.
Evidence
Developer announces ChromaGun 2: Dye Hard has launched as a separate game, celebrating nearly 10 years since the original. All developer focus is on the sequel.

============

Welcome to ChromaTec’s test lab! You’re here to test our newest, state-of-the-art military-grade color-technology: The ChromaGun (patent pending)! Use it to try and solve our meticulously designed test chambers. The basic principle is as easy as applying it is complex: Exit the chambers via the exit doors. But be weary of the WorkerDroids in charge of maintaining the chambers. They’re not exactly what you and I would call “human friendly”.

Use the ChromaGun to colorize walls and WorkerDroids to progress in the chambers. WorkerDroids are attracted to walls of the same color. Using that mechanic, try to reach the exit door of each chamber. Some doors are more complicated to use than others: They can only be opened using door triggers and only stay open as long as the triggers are occupied.

If all of this sounds like your brain can handle it, congratulations! You’re the perfect candidate for our test chambers!

That being said, welcome and good luck!
