Chromosome Evil 2

Chromosome Evil 2 launched out of Early Access on February 15, 2024. Since then, the developer (a two-person team at 16 BIT NIGHTS) has continued delivering meaningful updates at a sustained pace. A major overhaul arrived in April 2024 (version 1.5x, adding new weapons, ammunition types, and balance revisions), followed by a significant feature update in October 2024 (equipment transfer improvements, time acceleration, and a sandbox mode). A surprise update on January 1, 2026 added a special mission mode and a community-created map. Most recently, on February 17, 2026, the developer's partner shipped additional challenge missions accessible from the main menu, and the team invited players to submit their own community-made maps for potential inclusion in future updates. The studio is transparent about its future being focused on new projects — at least three new games are in development — but the partner responsible for Chromosome Evil 2's updates has continued to ship content independently. The developer has not announced that updates to this game are finished. The most recent update was on February 17, 2026, and the open invitation for community map submissions suggests further additions are possible. No DLC has been announced or listed for the game.
