Evaluation
CivIdle launched out of Early Access on December 4, 2025 and has received a steady stream of post-launch content from solo developer FishPond.
Since launch, the developer shipped Patch 1.1 (January 8, 2026) with two new civilizations, Patch 1.2 (April 6, 2026) adding the Carthaginian civilization, Patch 1.3 (June 5, 2026) introducing the Dutch civilization and the Midsummer wonder, and a QoL/performance update on July 24, 2026.
Most recently, on August 16, 2026, the developer announced that Patch 1.5 is currently available in beta testing. This patch revamps four of the game's oldest civilizations (Roman, Greek, Egyptian, and Chinese) with new scalable mechanics, adds an in-game calendar, and introduces a special community reward feature tied to the "Keep Our Server On" supporter pack. The developer has confirmed Patch 1.5 is scheduled to land on the stable branch on September 8, 2026.
The developer remains transparent about their situation: their hosting provider raised server costs by nearly 300%, requiring significant infrastructure changes, and a cosmetic "Keep Our Server On" DLC (released June 30, 2026) was introduced to help fund ongoing server costs. FishPond is simultaneously working on a new game called Restitutor, which is also targeting an Early Access launch on September 8, 2026 — but CivIdle updates have continued alongside that work, and Patch 1.5 is explicitly timed to coincide with Restitutor's launch.

A 90's retro UI, that is a love letter to the golden age of desktop computing, will surely bring back some nostalgia. There's a 1-1 replicated mode which brings maximum authenticity and a "eye protection mode" that captures the essence but is easier on your eye on modern displays.A Game For the People
If your computer can run paint, you can probably run CivIdle. Similar to Industry Idle, the game will NOT include any micro transactions. Instead, the base game will be free of charge and you can optionally get more content, support the game's development and help cover the server expense by purchasing paid expansion packs.Last evaluated Aug 18, 2026
