Cosmodread launched on March 25, 2021. In the months following release, White Door Games shipped several feature patches adding new functionality (left-handed controls, language support, haptic feedback) and one named major content update — the Halloween Update on October 26, 2021 — which added a new weapon (Flamethrower) and new equipment (Map Beacon). That appears to be the last meaningful content addition to the game. After January 2022, developer communications dropped to purely maintenance activity: bug fixes and minor patches. The most recent post, from October 8, 2025, was a security patch for a Unity engine vulnerability — a routine technical fix with no content implications. There are no unreleased DLC listings, no roadmap, no announced future content, and no developer statements about plans for additional updates. The game's post-launch history shows a single wave of content in its first several months, followed by a long tail of maintenance. With the last substantive content having shipped in October 2021 and no signals of anything further, the game appears to have reached its completed state.

Trapped in a dying spaceship filled with horrors, you must explore, survive, and find your way back to the safety of Earth. Cosmodread features a rich, tense and immersive atmosphere that will make you forget about the world outside the headset.

EXPLORE

Search for resources and find a way home. Every run will have you play in a new procedurally generated layout, with random positions for rooms, corridors, items and hazards, and different emergent situations. You’ll never quite know what’s behind the next door.

SURVIVE

Use your own hands to interact with the environment. Open doors, drawers and lockers and rummage through their contents. Collect basic resources, and craft weapons and equipment to deal with both enemies and hazards.

FIGHT

Crouch behind cover and shoot at enemies with your crossbow, or set a trap for them to walk into. But remember: ammo is scarce! Sometimes it’s better to just grab an object off a shelf and throw it away to distract the creature sniffing after you.
