Evaluation

CRACKHEAD launched on November 10, 2016 and received a series of post-launch updates through mid-2018, including new game modes, performance improvements, a level editor, and a theme tune DLC released on September 7, 2017. On May 18, 2018, Displacement Studios posted an official statement announcing they had acquired the game and explicitly declared that "CRACKHEAD is out of development" — noting that this applied to new content, though bug fixes would still be considered. This is a direct developer statement marking the end of content development. The sole DLC on the store has been released. No further content has been announced, and no developer communications have appeared since the May 18, 2018 post.
Evidence

About this game

Crackhead is a hardcore 2D breakout challenge packed with psychedelic party energy, strange levels, and game modes that will test both your reactions and your patience. Smash through bricks, keep the ball alive, and try to stay in control when the screen turns into complete chaos.

Play through a variety of modes, take on the challenge alone, or bring someone along for local shared-screen play. Whether you are competing, cooperating, or just trying not to ruin each other’s run, things can get intense fast.

Think you can complete each game mode without cracking your head? Good luck.

Crackhead also includes a built-in level editor, so when the official levels are no longer enough, you can create your own layout and make the next trip as brutal or ridiculous as you want.

And if you launch the game during December, make sure to check out the Christmas arcade level, which is available only for the festive season.
