Deck Hunter has been in Early Access since May 30, 2019 and remains there today. The solo developer, L_Draven, posted regular updates through 2019–2021 including a major content overhaul in April 2020 that substantially rebuilt the game's AI, cards, and systems. In May 2021, the developer announced a full redesign from scratch to improve scalability and prepare the game for a proper 1.0 release.
On October 18, 2022, the developer shared the most recent public communication: a detailed plan describing a complete game overhaul with a target 1.0 release date of May 30, 2023 (the game's 4th anniversary in Early Access). The post outlined a closed beta phase starting January–February 2023 followed by several iterations before the final launch.
That May 2023 deadline has now passed with no update, no beta announcement, no delay explanation, and no communication of any kind. The developer has not posted to Steam since October 18, 2022. Earlier posts from 2020 and 2022 candidly described serious personal challenges — health issues, burnout, financial strain, and a new full-time job as Lead Artist — that severely limited available development time.
The game is still purchasable and remains in Early Access. Given that the promised 1.0 launch window has passed by over three years without any developer communication, it is unclear whether the redesign project is still ongoing or has been quietly abandoned.
