Evaluation
Descent: Legends of the Dark is a free companion app for the board game of the same name. It launched on August 6, 2021, and received its one major content addition — Act II: The Betrayer's War expansion — on August 22, 2023. This expansion continued the campaign narrative and represented the conclusion of the game's planned story content (Act I followed by Act II).
Following the Act II release, developer communications shifted entirely to bug fixes and minor quality-of-life patches, with no announcements of new expansions, roadmaps, or future content. The most recent update, Version 2.0.8 on November 10, 2025, is a pure bug fix release. There has been only one major content release across the entire post-launch period, meaning there is no pattern of recurring major updates to suggest more is on the way. No unreleased DLC is listed on the store, and the developer has made no statements indicating further content is planned.
The app appears to have reached its intended scope — a two-act campaign (Blood and Flame and The Betrayer's War) — and has since been maintained with stability patches. Someone waiting for all content before playing can consider it complete as of August 22, 2023.
