Devil Engine launched on February 20, 2019 as a classic shoot-em-up with 6 stages and 8 game modes. Shortly after launch, the developer announced the Ignition expansion pack (May 31, 2019), which promised to double the game's size with 6 new stages, new ships, and an arranged soundtrack. That expansion was released on November 9, 2023 alongside the Devil Engine: Complete Edition bundle, which brought additional game modes, upgraded visuals, and an enhanced soundtrack. Both DLC entries in the store listing — the Ignition expansion and the Original Soundtrack — are fully released. The November 2023 Complete Edition launch represented the culmination of all planned content, with the developer describing it as the definitive version of the game. No further content has been announced since that date, and there has been no developer communication suggesting additional expansions or updates are in development.
