Evaluation

Dino Nest launched out of Early Access on April 28, 2022 and received a sustained series of content updates throughout its development. The game shipped major free content expansions on June 11, 2021 ("Mysterious Egg" / Chapter II), December 2, 2021 ("Hidden Island" / Chapter III), and May 5, 2023 ("Triceratops Species Pack"), establishing a pattern of meaningful additions. Back in August 2022, the developer published a community-voted DLC roadmap listing several planned species packs — including Dodo, Sarcosuchus, Pterodactylus, Stegosaurus, and two unannounced paid packs. However, no subsequent developer communication has referenced these planned packs since that August 2022 post. The Triceratops Species Pack (the first item on that list) shipped in May 2023, and the following September 2023 update added Steam Achievements — rounding out a feature that had been promised since launch. That September 26, 2023 patch is the last developer communication on record. The original roadmap also mentioned a "Sarco expansion" as a near-term follow-up to the Triceratops pack (referenced in the May 2023 patch notes), but no announcement, release date, or development update for that expansion — or any other planned DLC — has been published since. As of today, June 24, 2026, the developer has been silent for over two and a half years (since September 26, 2023). Given that the prior cadence between major content releases was roughly 6–12 months, this silence far exceeds any reasonable expectation of an upcoming release. The evidence points to the game having quietly concluded its content development after the Achievements update in September 2023. The originally announced DLC pipeline was never formally cancelled, but with no updates, no store listings for unreleased DLC, and nearly three years of silence, the game is best assessed as complete.
