Divided We Fall: Play For Free

Divided We Fall launched out of Early Access on October 2, 2017. Shortly after launch, the original developer (KAVA Game Studio) posted a candid assessment on November 10, 2017 acknowledging that the game's commercial performance had been far worse than expected, and that the team had spent over three years working on it without salary. While they pledged to continue fixing bugs and gradually adding modding tools, this post signaled a significant scaling back of ambitions. In May 2018, the game transitioned to a free-to-play model, and an Officer Edition DLC was released on August 20, 2018 — the only paid DLC the game has ever received. On May 17, 2020, a new group of developers announced they had taken over the game and brought it back online, expressing intent to re-engage with the community. Their last known communication was a feature patch on June 17, 2020, which updated the game's server infrastructure and lobby, and mentioned plans for a future lobby rewrite. Since June 17, 2020, there have been no further developer communications of any kind. The single DLC that exists has been released. The scan of 40 news posts identified only one major content drop (the free-to-play conversion in 2018) and one feature patch from the new team in June 2020, with no posts at all after that date. The new developers' June 2020 post mentioned ongoing plans (a lobby rewrite), but with no follow-up in over six years, those plans were never realized. With the last developer communication on June 17, 2020 — nearly six years before today's date of June 27, 2026 — and no outstanding DLC, no roadmap, and no further posts, the game has effectively reached the end of its development lifecycle. The content it shipped is what it is.
