Evaluation
Down To One launched into Early Access and reached its 1.0 release on January 7, 2016. At that point, the developer (Gadget Games) explicitly stated the game was "feature-complete" and committed to ongoing support with patches and continued weekly tournaments, but did not announce any additional paid DLC or major content expansions.
Following the 1.0 launch, the game received a handful of feature patches and one major content update (Update 1.2 - Civil Engineering, on June 19, 2016). Beginning in 2018, the developer began publicly developing a significantly overhauled version called "Down To One v2" (DTOv2), which introduced a new team-based game mode, vaulting, vehicles, destructible environments, and cloud-saved progression. This was described as essentially a "new game" built on the existing product. The developer ran multiple beta and pre-alpha tests for DTOv2 through 2018–2020, with the open beta launching on April 11, 2020.
The most recent developer communication on record is the September 15, 2022 feature patch (NEWS-1), which improved the server browser and adjusted the default solo play experience. There have been no developer posts, patches, roadmaps, or announcements since September 15, 2022 — nearly four years of silence as of today (June 28, 2026). There are no unreleased DLC listings, no announced future content, and no outstanding developer commitments visible in the store or news history.
The DTOv2 overhaul work that was prominent in 2018–2020 has not resulted in any further updates since the 2022 patch, and no completion or cancellation announcement has been made. However, given that the 2022 update was itself maintenance-oriented (server browser fixes, solo mode defaults) rather than a content roadmap commitment, and that nearly four years have passed with no communication of any kind, the game's development appears to have quietly wound down. The game is available for purchase and is playable in its current state.
Evidence
Most recent developer update: server browser fix and solo roam mode set as the default play option. No future content announced. This is the last known developer communication.
Update 1.2 (Civil Engineering) shipped as the largest post-launch update, adding a new weapon, rendering rework, engine upgrade, and balance changes.
