Dragon Quest Builders 2 launched on Steam on December 10, 2019, and notably shipped as a complete package from day one — the store description and a pre-launch announcement explicitly confirmed that all Season Pass DLC content (the Hotto Stuff Pack, Aquarium Pack, and Modernist Pack) was included in the base game at no extra cost, with no further paid expansions planned. The Steam version launched with more content than the console version ever had separately.
After launch, the developer released a minor bug-fix patch in December 2019 addressing mouse sensitivity, graphics settings, and NPC movement issues. The most recent patch, version 1.7.3d, was released on August 20, 2024, fixing minor bugs. Neither of these represent new content additions.
The developer's news activity since 2020 has been focused entirely on promoting other Dragon Quest titles — Dragon Quest XI S (2020), Dragon Quest Builders 1 (February 2024), Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake (October 2025), and Dragon Quest VII Reimagined (February 2026) — none of which relate to new content for Builders 2. There have been no announcements of new DLC, expansions, or updates for Builders 2 itself.
The game launched as a finished, complete package with all previously released DLC included, and no post-launch content cycle was ever established for the Steam version. It is a complete, standalone product.

STORY
The evil Children of Hargon are determined to eradicate all creators and have outlawed the building, cooking, and creation of all things.
