Evaluation
Dungeon Kingdom: Sign of the Moon has been in Early Access since November 19, 2015 and remains in that state today. The developer, Hydro Games (a one-person studio led by "Kanda"), has been steadily building out the game's content over the years, shipping major chapter updates roughly every 1–2 years: a new chapter in June 2017, another in March 2018, another in April 2019, another in May 2020, and finally the last chapter — completing the full story from start to finish — in March 2021. That March 2021 post confirmed the complete narrative was now playable.
Following the final chapter, the developer continued working on polish, bug fixes, and planned additions (a merchant, new spells, UI improvements) through mid-2021. Then came a long silence. On January 25, 2023, the developer returned with a brief engine update (version 0.970), acknowledging the gap and attributing it to personal life circumstances. The post explicitly promised that a "bigger update will follow soon" and signaled a return to regular updates.
However, that January 25, 2023 post is the last communication from the developer. As of June 28, 2026, more than three years have passed with no follow-up — no patch, no blog post, no status update. The promised "bigger update" has never arrived. The game still carries its Early Access label, and the developer has never announced a 1.0 release or declared the game complete. While the main story content appears to be fully playable, the game remains officially unfinished, and it is unclear whether the developer is still actively working on it.
Evidence
Developer returned after a long personal hiatus with version 0.970 (an engine update), promised a 'bigger update will follow soon' and a return to regular updates. This is the last known communication from the developer.
Update 0.9.962 delivered the final chapter, making the full story playable from start to finish. Developer outlined plans for further balancing, feedback integration, and additions (new spells, items, a merchant).
