Evaluation

ESPIONAGE: Mafia Evolved launched as a free-to-play social deduction game on August 12, 2022 and has received a sustained run of major seasonal updates ever since: Season 2 in May 2023, a major mode update (TEAM ESPIONAGE) in December 2023, Season 3 in January 2024, Season 4 (MARTIAL LAW mode) in March 2025, and Season 5 in December 2025. On December 21, 2025, the developer explicitly stated that "ESPIONAGE: Mafia Evolved development and updates will continue!" and specified that new modes, settings, and modifiers are coming — content that will also function jointly with the forthcoming companion game, ESPIONAGE: Play Novel. Play Novel was announced as a full episodic single-player game launching in 2026, with five chapters to be released on a regular schedule. That same December 2025 post also noted that another update with a new, unrevealed costume was "right around the corner," indicating near-term content beyond what had already shipped. The developer's own words make clear that both the multiplayer game and new single-player content are in active development as of December 2025, with no indication of a conclusion. Anyone waiting for the full picture of this game's content should know that additional material has been explicitly promised and is still on the way.

About this game

In 1958, on an island beyond the North Sea, a tournament of deduction is hosted by the last of a once-defunct criminal enterprise. Invited are an assortment of personalities that find there are few strangers amongst them, but all are promised a solitary reward for the eventual winner: "No wish will go ungranted". However, the specialized device each player now wears is used not only to participate in the game but compel them toward revelations none expect.

Features:

  • Play Solo vs. AI or up to 8 players with any combination of humans and AI
  • Full cross-play between PC, Android and IOS
  • Full cross-progression
  • No pay-to-win mechanics
  • No ads and no limits on play
  • Anonymous mode
  • Achievements
  • Multiple languages supported

Gameplay:

TEAM SPY
  • Frame the Detective for arrest or Eliminate them and ensure the Spy escapes.

TEAM DETECTIVE
  • Arrest the Spy before they escape.

Use your AP carefully
  • Action Points (AP) allow you to perform actions with and against other players. Make allies and enemies as you navigate the match and help your side win—all while being undermined by your opponents.

Find as much Intel as you can
  • Reaching 100% Trust with another player will allow the two of you to exchange Intel.
  • Every list of Intel contains the names of two players who are NOT the Detective or Informant—use this to find your allies, and your opponents, before it's too late.

Be wary of Suspicion
  • You and other players will be raising one another's Suspicion toward the other throughout the game—and those with enough Suspicion are nominated for arrest. When it's time for voting, only they are in danger of leaving the match...
