Frontier Pilot Simulator launched out of Early Access on December 7, 2021. The game had a turbulent development period: in February 2023, the developer disclosed that the original team had split due to the outbreak of war involving team members from Ukraine and Russia, and that a new team had taken over with a focus on porting the game to PlayStation 5 and Xbox. By December 2023, the console port was nearing submission for certification, and the developer was also working on PC optimizations. In April 2024, an update was released that the developer described as achieving "100% game readiness, meeting all our original plans" — signaling that the game had reached the full scope they had originally envisioned.
The clearest signal of completion came on March 25, 2025, when the developer published a post explicitly titled "Final Update," which added French language localization and removed a buggy quest. This is a direct developer statement that no further updates are planned. There have been no developer communications since that date. The only DLC ever released was a soundtrack pack in 2020, and no new content has been announced or listed as unreleased. The game is complete as of the Final Update on March 25, 2025.

As a long-term Flight Sim enthusiast, I`m quite impressed with this Early Access title.. Its fun to just fly around enjoying the landscape, and you do get the feeling of flying in an unusual stormy atmosphere, (lots of wind, geysers & volcanoes etc to deal with..). - Demo, Steam
