Geneforge 2 – Infestation launched on March 27, 2024 as a complete, standalone remaster of the 2003 original. The store description presents it as a finished product with a defined scope: roughly 90 zones, 50+ hours of gameplay, and a complete narrative with multiple endings. There is no season pass, expansion pass, or unreleased DLC — the only DLC listed is a hintbook/bonus pack that released on launch day.
Post-launch developer activity has been limited to maintenance: a bug fix patch in May 2024 (v1.0.2) and a rendering/animation overhaul in September 2025 (v1.0.4). Neither patch introduced new story content or signaled plans for future expansions. The September 2025 patch notes describe visual improvements and minor fixes only.
Spiderweb Software's attention has since moved on to their next project: Avernum 4: Greed and Glory, which was Kickstarted in September 2024 and announced for an October 22, 2025 release. These developer communications are posted on the Geneforge 2 news feed, confirming the studio is healthy and active — but focused on a different title. This pattern is consistent with Spiderweb's established approach of shipping complete, self-contained RPGs and then moving to the next project.
The game launched as a finished product, and no additional content has been announced or hinted at since release. The last patch (September 24, 2025) was purely a technical improvement with no content additions.

But your people have grown lazy and complacent, and a threat has appeared. Your creations are no longer content to serve you. You are lost in a wild, savage mountain range.
