GIGA WRECKER

GIGA WRECKER began as a Steam Early Access title in August 2016, receiving several major content updates that built out the game's story, stages, and systems. It officially launched as a full release on February 6, 2017, after the story and campaign were completed during the Early Access period. Following the 1.0 launch, Game Freak shipped two post-launch updates: a boss-rush mode called "Astra Rush" on June 23, 2017, and a language localization update on December 20, 2017. Both updates also noted that a previously announced additional playable character feature had been postponed — and as of the December 20, 2017 post, it was described as coming "in a future update." However, that December 2017 post is the last recorded developer communication for the game, and no further update or playable character feature was ever delivered. The developer went silent after December 20, 2017, and no content — including the long-deferred playable character — has shipped since. Given that over eight years have passed since that final communication with no follow-through on the remaining promise, the playable character feature can reasonably be considered abandoned rather than outstanding. The game's only DLC (the soundtrack) was released on launch day and is fully available. The store description makes no mention of future content or ongoing development. GIGA WRECKER is best understood as a complete, finished game — the teased playable character addition was never delivered and has been dormant for years.
