Evaluation

Grocery Store Tycoon - First Store is a free-to-play prologue that launched on April 25, 2025. It was explicitly designed as an introductory experience to feed players toward the full Grocery Store Tycoon game (a separate product on Steam). After launch, the developer shipped a feature patch on April 30, 2025 and two bug-fix updates on May 6 and May 17, 2025. No further updates have been posted since May 17, 2025. The March 8, 2026 post (the most recent developer communication) is an advertisement for the separate full game, Grocery Store Tycoon, listing its features and linking to its store page. It is not an announcement of new content for this First Store title — it explicitly frames First Store as a "starting point" and directs players to the full game for expanded systems. The final sentence even notes that enjoying First Store and leaving a review "supports future development," referring to the broader franchise, not to further updates to this prologue. There are no unreleased DLC listings, no roadmap for this title, and no developer statements promising additional content for First Store itself. The game launched as a complete free prologue, received a short round of post-launch polish patches through May 17, 2025, and has had no developer activity since. It functions as a finished standalone demo/prologue product.

About this game

Grocery Store Tycoon - First Store allows players to take their first steps as a store owner by managing and expanding their very first shop. Start with a small store, optimize its layout, stock shelves efficiently, and serve customers to grow your business. Careful planning and strategic decisions will be key to turning your humble beginning into a thriving supermarket!

Operate the Cash Register yourself if you would like to challenge the speed of your best cashier, or simply do not want to pay the wage. Swipe as fast as you can to avoid long queue times and unhappy customers.

Stock Shelves by carrying a case at a time from the warehouse or use a cart to transport larger quantities.

Purchase Placeables such as Cash Registers, Shelving, Coolers, Freezers, Produce Shelves, Shopping Cart Corrals, Shopping Basket Stands, Material Handling Equipment, and Decorations.

Interactive UI to manage your store through customer statistics, supply and demand of goods, pricing adjustments, placeable condition viewing, and employee management.

Unlock Item Types, Placeables, Management Tools, Employee Hiring Capacity, Store Expansions, and the opportunity to purchase other stores by gaining experience passively, by working, or by completing bonus objectives.

Maintain placeables, return carts and baskets, and keep the store clean to keep your store operating at its full potential.

Manage Employees to keep them happy or they may quit! Assigning an employee to the job they would like, the wage they want, and not overworking them all contribute to the employee's happiness. Unreliable employees may call in and affect your happiness.

Customers must be satisfied to get good reviews and keep your store in good standing. Having the goods they seek, keeping them in the store for as little time as possible, and having a charismatic employee behind the cash register all contribute to the satisfaction of customers.
