Evaluation
Gun Rocket launched on May 2, 2016 as a self-contained 2D physics arcade game with 100 levels, six ships, and five music tracks. The only DLC — the soundtrack — shipped the following day. The store description makes no mention of planned expansions or additional content.
The game went largely untouched for years after its initial release. The developer, Jack Pritz, recently returned to the game in April 2026 to address a critical issue: the game had stopped launching entirely due to an outdated engine. On April 4, 2026, he published a patch that upgraded the game from Unity Engine 5.5 (last updated 2018) to Unity 6.3, restored basic functionality, and removed broken multiplayer features. A follow-up patch on April 14, 2026 addressed a visual complaint from players by replacing the out-of-bounds stripe effect with a new "blobs" design.
These are maintenance and quality-of-life fixes rather than new content additions. The developer's posts are candid about the nature of this work — he rediscovered the game after a decade, fixed it so it would run, and polished a longstanding visual complaint. There is no roadmap, no announced DLC, and no indication of plans to add new levels, ships, or other content. Gun Rocket launched as a complete, self-contained package in 2016 and remains so today.
Evidence
Developer Jack Pritz returned to Gun Rocket after years away, explaining the game had stopped launching due to an outdated engine. He updated from Unity 5.5 to Unity 6.3, removed broken multiplayer features, and fixed several bugs. Noted 'more cooking' but followed up only with a visual fix — no content additions announced.
Store description lists the full contents of the game — 100 levels, 6 ships, 5 music tracks — with no mention of planned updates, expansions, or additional content.
