Hive Jump launched out of Early Access on January 18, 2017, receiving a handful of balance and bug-fix patches in the weeks that followed. The only substantial post-launch developer communication was a December 28, 2018 post announcing console ports to Nintendo Switch and Xbox One, along with some minor PC cleanup work — there was no mention of new story content or DLC for the PC version. The last developer communication of any kind was on September 12, 2023, but that post was not an update to Hive Jump itself — it was an announcement for a separate spiritual successor called Hive Jump Survivors. Crucially, that same post explicitly stated that "the core development team for the original has disbanded making it unlikely that we'll revisit the original Hive Jump." This is a clear developer statement that active development on the original game has concluded. The only DLC ever released was the game's soundtrack, which shipped on launch day. No additional paid or free content has been announced or delivered for the base game since launch, and the developer has now formally confirmed there are no plans to return to it.
