Evaluation

House of Velez Part 1 launched on October 24, 2017, and its story continuation — House of Velez Part 2 — was released as DLC on April 8, 2019. The original two-part game series is therefore complete and playable in full. However, Dark Room Games has been actively working on a full remake of House of Velez in Unreal Engine. The developer first announced the remake on July 25, 2022, and provided a substantial progress update on July 6, 2024, showing redesigned gameplay (fixed camera, tank controls, added combat systems) and dozens of screenshots from the current build. In that July 2024 post, the developer stated they were working on a demo and hoped to release it before the end of 2024. On October 30, 2024, the developer posted a minor update mentioning the remake demo was still coming with "more info soon." That is the last communication from the developer. As of June 27, 2026, no demo has been announced as shipped, and no further updates have appeared — a silence of more than 19 months following a missed self-imposed deadline. This extended silence after a specific promised deliverable raises genuine uncertainty about whether the remake is still actively progressing on the originally communicated schedule.
Evidence
Developer provides major update on the House of Velez Remake in Unreal Engine, showing redesigned gameplay systems (fixed cameras, tank controls, combat) and new screenshots. States a demo is being worked on with a goal to release it before end of 2024.
