Loadout was a free-to-play multiplayer shooter that launched on January 31, 2014 and built a player base of over 9 million people. On May 7, 2018, the developer Edge of Reality announced that the game would be shutting down permanently on May 24, 2018. The studio cited three simultaneous pressures: the incoming GDPR legislation requiring costly compliance work they couldn't afford, the end-of-service of a critical cloud provider product that would require a major migration effort, and rising server costs that had pushed the game into financial losses. The shutdown proceeded as announced, with a final post confirming the service ended on May 24, 2018 at 4pm CST. The game is no longer available for purchase on Steam, consistent with its permanent shutdown. All five cosmetic DLC packs that were released during the game's lifetime have no outstanding content.

Our robust and modular Weaponcrafting system allows players to make their own weapons from a wide variety of weapon parts, and then modify their entire arsenal to suit their play style. There are no defined classes in Loadout. You define your own class through the weapons you create.
Loadout is also loaded with over-the-top comedic violence, stylish character models, and crazy player animations. We aim to add a fresh, new look to the shooter experience that gives players a full-adrenaline rush that is totally different from the vast array of modern combat titles.
