LOVE

LOVE is a retro platformer that launched on February 7, 2014. Over the following years, the developer Fred Wood shipped several feature updates expanding the game's content — most notably Update #8 on February 13, 2015, which brought the level count to 16 and added Remix Mode, accompanied by a note that "the main game is now finished." A soundtrack DLC followed in October 2015, and a second DLC ("Moondogs and Other Toy Animals") shipped in August 2020. The largest post-launch update (Update #16, April 2020) converted the game to 60fps and added several new modes; that same post mentioned that LOVE 3 had begun development — a separate game in the series, not additional content for this one. The most recent update, Update #19 on January 18, 2024, was a substantial polish pass funded by an Epic Games Store giveaway deal. It updated audio, replaced the level editor with a modern version, improved controller and keyboard support, overhauled scoring and menus, and added a "LOVE Classic" legacy mode. The post thanks players for "a decade of support" and makes no mention of further planned updates. Both DLCs are released, no unreleased DLC is listed on the store, and the developer has made no announcements of future content for this game. Fred Wood's recent development focus has been on LOVE 3 (a separate title). The January 2024 update reads as a final celebration of the original game's tenth anniversary rather than the start of a new update cycle. With no outstanding commitments and no further communications since January 18, 2024, the game is content-complete.
