Metal Wolf Chaos XD is a modernized re-release of FromSoftware's 2004 original, published by Devolver Digital and developed by General Arcade. It launched on August 6, 2019 as a complete, self-contained product — a faithful remaster with upgraded visuals, refined controls, a new save system, and widescreen/4K support. The only DLC ever released is a soundtrack pack (August 7, 2019), which is a cosmetic add-on rather than a content expansion. All developer communications after launch consist entirely of bug fix patches (August 9, August 20, and November 21, 2019), with no posts of any kind since November 21, 2019. There are no announced expansions, no roadmap, no unreleased DLC, and no developer statements suggesting further content was ever planned. The game went on to become somewhat of a legend as it was hard to acquire and even harder to play outside of Japan with most fans experience of the game through YouTube videos and the occasional screenshot.
