Metamorphosis launched on August 12, 2020 as a first-person adventure game inspired by Kafka's classic story. The original game appears content-complete: a free DLC adding an extra hour of gameplay shipped on August 14, 2023, and a bug fix patch followed in April 2023. The game was also verified for Steam Deck on October 21, 2025, showing the developer and publisher are still actively supporting the title.
The most significant recent development is the announcement of Metamorphosis II. On June 13, 2025, Ovid Works opened sign-ups for an online playtest of a beta build of the sequel, explicitly framing it as a direct response to player feedback asking for more content. While Metamorphosis II is a separate game rather than DLC for the original, it confirms the developer is actively engaged with this franchise and building new content in the same universe.
