Mists of Aiden (originally titled "House on the Hill") is a single-player, story-driven horror game developed by Steppe Hare Studio, a small three-person team. The game launched on July 28, 2020 and received a series of bug fix and feature patches through the summer and autumn of 2020. On November 10, 2020, the developer released what they called the "final version" of the game, adding new story scenes, Steam Trading Cards, and various improvements — this marked the completion of post-launch content work.
In January 2021, the developer renamed the game to "Mists of Aiden" following a trademark dispute with Hasbro, but explicitly stated this was only a title change with no effect on the game itself.
Since the November 2020 content update, the only additional post from the developer directly related to this game was a technical patch in April 2022 to fix a launch compatibility issue with newer processors — a maintenance fix, not new content. All other developer news since then has been about separate projects: a new game called Prognostic (launched in Early Access in October 2021) and The Inn-Sanity (launched in Early Access in October 2024).
The studio's focus has clearly shifted to new titles. No roadmap, announced DLC, or future content plans have ever been communicated for Mists of Aiden. The November 10, 2020 post describing the "final version" is the clearest marker of when the game's content was considered complete.
