Mothlight launched on August 25, 2017 as a free-to-play RPG. Shortly after release, the developer issued two small patches on August 29, 2017 to fix graphical errors and recording of in-game time. On September 21, 2017, the developer explicitly stated that Mothlight is "pretty much done with" and that their next project was already in full motion — pointing players toward their social channels and Patreon to follow future work. The developer then moved on to a new game called Orogenesis, announcing its Kickstarter in July 2018 and releasing it on October 17, 2018. There has been no further communication about Mothlight since September 2017. The game launched as a complete, self-contained experience and the developer has clearly communicated that development on it has concluded.
