Star Fetchers

Star Fetchers originally launched on January 17, 2020 as a free-to-play "Pilot" episode — explicitly described as an introduction to a larger series, with future installments promised. The developer (Svavelstickan) has been steadily building out that series since launch. In July 2021, the developer dropped a teaser for Episode 1, and in September 2021 released a full trailer for it — showing the project had been in the works for some time. In April 2024, the developer announced a shorter side-adventure called "Escape from Pork Belly" as a standalone DLC set between the Pilot and Episode 1, framing it as a creative detour while Episode 1 remained in development. Escape from Pork Belly launched on September 9, 2024, accompanied by a major gameplay overhaul to the base Pilot. A content patch (1.2) followed on October 17, 2024, adding a new costume, cutscene, and endless mode — and the developer noted they were "officially back in the Episode 1 mines." Most recently, on September 26, 2025 — the one-year anniversary of Escape from Pork Belly — the developer published another patch with new content and localization, and explicitly stated they were "flying back into our fairy kingdom to continue working on Star Fetchers Episode 1." They also teased a dev update was coming. Episode 1 remains listed as an unreleased DLC on the store with no release date. The developer has consistently communicated that this is the next major piece of the series, and their most recent post as of September 26, 2025 confirms it is still in active development.
