Mushroom Wars launched on Steam on April 7, 2016 as a port of the original PlayStation 3 game. Following launch, the developer shipped a series of updates adding meaningful features: a free multiplayer update in June 2016 (adding online multiplayer, ranked matches, local multiplayer, and gamepad support), Custom Games functionality in July 2017, three new maps in December 2017, and a final bug-fix patch on December 6, 2018. That December 2018 patch is the last recorded communication from the developer. No further updates, announcements, roadmaps, or developer posts have appeared since that date. There are no unreleased DLC items listed on the store, no announced future content, and no developer statements about ongoing development plans. The developer's attention had already visibly shifted to the sequel, Mushroom Wars 2, which entered closed beta in July 2016. The game shipped as a complete product and its post-launch update activity wound down naturally, with December 6, 2018 representing the last meaningful developer activity.
