Evaluation

Necrobarista launched on July 22, 2020 and received a planned series of three free post-launch content updates. The first, The Midnight Interlude, arrived on November 12, 2020. The second, Walking to the Sky, followed on January 19, 2021. The third and final update, Necrobarista: Final Pour, launched on September 30, 2021 — completing all three planned additions. The Final Pour update is explicitly described as the "definitive edition" of Necrobarista in the store description, and the developer confirmed in the same launch post that this was "intended to be the 'final' major update for Necrobarista" and "the last major update for the game in the foreseeable future." The studio went on to say the team would be taking a break and moving on to new projects, while leaving open a small possibility of future work ("never say never"). The store page continues to describe Final Pour as "the definitive edition of Necrobarista," and there is no announced future content, no unreleased DLC, and no developer communications since the October 2021 bug-fix patch. The game is complete as of the Final Pour release on September 30, 2021.
Evidence
Developer announces Final Pour as the last major update: 'Final Pour is intended to be the final major update for Necrobarista... this will be the last major update for the game in the foreseeable future.' The team announced they would be taking a break and shifting focus to new projects.

About this game

"This is a story about death and coffee."

Inspired equally by film and anime, Necrobarista is a unique take on the visual novel medium. Follow a dynamic and diverse cast of characters as they navigate Melbourne's hipstery coffee culture, the questionable ethics of necromancy, and the process of letting go.

Final Pour is the definitive edition of Necrobarista, bringing a year's worth of updates and enhancements to the table, as well as brand new features and stories:
  • Full cinematic recomposition in 1.85:1 aspect ratio, bringing a whole new perspective to the story.
  • Devil's Den: A new episode featuring Samantha kicking someone in the head.
  • Studio Mode: Compose your own shots, add dialogue, and tell stories using the same tools as us!
  • Doodle Mode: Remember those homicidal robots we mentioned before? Now you can draw faces on them! They're fine with it.
  • Three new additions to the soundtrack from Necrobarista music producer Jeremy Lim.

Other features:

  • Stylized, fully 3D cinematic presentation that draws from anime aesthetics.
  • Soundtrack by Kevin Penkin, BAFTA-nominated composer for Florence, Made in Abyss, and Norn9.
  • Delve into the world of the Terminal and fantasy Melbourne through free-roaming first-person scenes.
  • Featuring goon-sack robots, alchemical coffee, and Australian folk hero Ned Kelly.
  • Support for fourteen languages, including Korean, Arabic, and Russian.
