Evaluation
Nexus - The Jupiter Incident is a 2007 real-time tactical space game that originally launched as a complete, self-contained single-player campaign. When HandyGames acquired the Nexus franchise, their goal was to modernize the game for contemporary hardware rather than add new story content. They were candid in an October 2015 beta update post that their ability to make deeper changes was limited because the original source code appears to have been lost.
Working within those constraints, the publisher delivered two meaningful compatibility and quality-of-life updates: a major patch in March 2016 that added HD resolution support, modern aspect ratio fixes, multiplayer improvements, and new modding tools, followed by Update 1.03 in December 2016 adding GUI scaling, Steam Workshop support, and additional bug fixes. The only DLC ever released is a soundtrack pack (March 2016) — there are no unreleased DLC items on the store.
There have been no developer communications of any kind since December 4, 2016. Given the disclosed source code limitation, the nature of the updates (compatibility and modding support rather than new content), and nearly a decade of silence, the game is best understood as a complete product. The December 2016 update represents the conclusion of the publisher's post-acquisition modernization effort. Someone waiting for all content can consider the game fully available today.
Evidence
Publisher disclosed that the original source code appears to be lost, significantly limiting what further improvements are possible beyond surface-level fixes and localization work.
Update 1.03 shipped with GUI scaling, Steam Workshop support, optional mod feature, and miscellaneous bug fixes. This is the last developer communication on record.
