Niche - a genetics survival game

Niche launched into Early Access in 2016 and left Early Access on September 21, 2017, at which point the developer stated they wanted to "keep expanding Niche" with player ideas — signaling ongoing post-launch support rather than a complete, finished package. True to that, the studio continued shipping content updates: the Wings & Whale Island update arrived on June 18, 2018, and a Sandbox Settings update on July 24, 2019. After that, post-launch content updates to the Steam version effectively ceased. Subsequent announcements focused on platform ports (Nintendo Switch in September 2020, Xbox in June 2021) and a separate mobile spin-off game ("Niche - Breed and Evolve"), neither of which represents new content for the Steam game itself. The most recent developer communication touching the Steam version is a small security hotfix on October 7, 2025, which is purely maintenance. There are no unreleased DLC entries, no roadmap or developer statements promising further content for the Steam game, and the update pattern for meaningful content has been silent since July 2019. The game's only DLC is a soundtrack that released at launch. All evidence points to the game having reached its content-complete state with the Sandbox Settings update on July 24, 2019.
